BELON, Hong Kong

A refined and chic new home for a landmark French restaurant. A classic, modernist approach feels appropriate for achieving a balance of elegance and charm. Iridescent granite stone and salt-dyed timber, Irish pewter and tapestry combine to create a warm, layered and tactile sensory experience.

Completing the modernist interiors are two Bruno Moinard paintings selected by Joyce Wang during a team trip to Paris, elegantly mounted as if floating in enchanting waters. Once again, the deep indigo hue pays tribute to the shade of colour that defined the original venue for some many loyal diners.

Reflective ceilings mirror the interior below, echoing the meditative quality of water, floating dishes on the ceiling create a surreal underwater effect.

Plaster artwork adds depth and character to the space throughout, revealing a history of fleur de lys motifts behind.

The understated floral arrangements hint at the underwater geometries of scales, corals and sponges recall found pieces from an abandoned shipwreck which serve as an inspiration for Chef Kirkley’s cuisine.
